Injectables
Botox, Dysport, and Nuceiva

Botox helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles on the face and relaxes the movement of facial muscles. Results start appearing in 5-7 days and fully appear in 14 days. It is the neuromodulator with mainstream name recognition and has long been on the market. Botox has been used to treat other symptoms too like the side effects of Bell's Palsy, urinary incontinence, and hyperhidrosis. These results can last up to 3 months.

Dysport was approved in Canada for cosmetic use in 2014 and is an alternative treatment method for minimizing the appearance of lines and forehead wrinkles. Both Botox and Dysport contain protein additives in their formulations and differ in their potency levels. Dysport is meant to target the glabella (the smooth part of your forehead, between and above your eyebrows), but it can be used effectively in the same way as other neuromodulators. It starts to work within 3-5 days and can last approximately 3 months.

Nuceiva is the newest member of the injectable neuromodulator group and has come to the market as a competitor for Botox. Nuceiva is another brand which uses the same molecule as Botox in its formulation. However, unlike Botox, which has multiple uses, Nuceiva is solely for cosmetic purposes. It starts working in 2-3 days and full results appear in 7-10 days. With Nuceiva results are shown to last longer, up to 5 months.
